Zizou had some strong words for the French manager Raymond Domenech:
"There is no team play and he has forgotten about his role as coach."
Asked about the lack of identity of the Bleus, Zidane said it is "a problem with the coach." According to France's greatest player, Domenech chose the starting XI but didn't explain his choice adequately to the team. "He's the coach, who must command," he said. Lack of communication and "ME" attitudes has permeated the French side.
As for les Bleus' horrific display against Uruguay, Zizou didn't mince words:
"There was no team play, there were only individual actions and we all know very well that in games like this it's the group that should shine," he said.
I certainly hope that Z finds his way to the French camp and smacks all of them back into shape. It seems from the outside looking in that the inmates are running the asylum. After comments from French players intimated to the public that a prima donna rift (William Gallas, Florent Malouda, Abou Diaby, Franck Ribery, ) was fracturing the team, captain Patrice Evra tried to calm the masses, but his cursory comments about Yohann Gourcuff only heightened the press' questions about the lack of team chemistry.
Their individual play, as Zizou indicated above, apparently is indicative of the cliques that have formed; "I won't pass to you (Gourcuff) because you're not my ally."
Domenech needs to step in (not sure he cares, as he's already been replaced post-WC by Laurent Blanc) and take control of the team and tell them, "I don't care if you don't want to play with player X, I am the manager and I decide. If you don't like it, then here's your ticket to an early vacation...au revoir!"
If they continue to act like this, there will be no need for the rest of Group A to be worried....France will have beaten themselves.
