World Cup Day 7: Zidane Reads My Blog!

from l'Equipe
"France did not play well."
Zinedine Zidane was interviewed afer the match by Mexican television network Televisa. "I'm disappointed for France, because (the team) has not even had the opportunity to shoot at the goal, and that has little hope for anything important."

The former Blues captain also praised the performance of the Mexicans: "They were facing their great rival, who played a very good game. Mexico were superior to France, especially physically. Tonight, the better man won." Zidane also criticized some choices of Raymond Domenech, particularly for allowing Yoann Gourcuff to remain on the bench for the match against Mexico. "Coach made this decision, but I'm not really in agreement with that." [end story]

Of course I agree with him.  Gourcuff was the only one who showed spark in the first match.  The ridiculousness of the clicques the French team have formed to push their own agenda is counterproductive and that showed in both of their matches.
They lack leadership, on and off the pitch.  They will have nobody but themselves to blame when they are watching the rest of the Cup from their vacation homes.
