World Cup Day 6: South Africa vs Uruguay

I didn't watch this match as I was having lunch with my good friend, Pam, at my favorite restaurant in the whole world, Mediterranean Grill.  Speaking with my favorite restauranteur Mustafa Salwi, who is a diehard Die Mannschaft fan and former player, he has predicted the Germans to take the title this year.  After their play two days ago I could say that is a possibility.

Isn't it nice to see an old guy scoring goals?  With all these twenty-somethings making waves in the world of footy the 31-yr-old Diego Forlan lit the house on fire in Pretoria today.  Why didn't Diego do this at Manchester United?  He's coming off a Europa League win with Atletico Madrid and is taking that fine form to SA.  He scored two today, although one was the result of a harsh and unnecessary penalty on the SA keeper, which saw him leave the match with a red (last man).  The Uruguayans piled on another goal in the 90' to make the final score 3-0 and put the Bafana Bafana on the cusp of being the first WC host country to dump out in the group stage.  They will have to wait to see the result of France vs Mexico tomorrow.  If one of them wins the match, South Africa will not move on to the next round.

CRISTIANO AND HIS DIVING
Cristiano has been taking a lot of heat since yesterday's match with Cote d'Ivoire.  His post-match comments that he wasn't protected enough have only inflamed his dissenters.
I found an interesting look at diving written on a sports blog and the author has a point.  Cristiano isn't the only one acting on the pitch.  Many times he does it to avoid being hurt, but then he is guilty of the melodrama quite often.
