Simao is a Hater; Zidane and ROW Wow!

SIMAO would rather have Lionel Messi than Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal team.

Portuguese hopes of glory will rest squarely on the shoulders of Real Madrid star Ronaldo.
But Atletico Madrid midfielder Simao believes Argentinian ace Messi has taken the ex-Manchester United man's crown as the world's best player.
And asked who he would pick on his side, Simao incredibly said:
"I'd choose Messi."

"Messi is going through a fantastic phase - he has it all with Barcelona.
"He is scoring a lot, has no injuries, is strong, fast, a great dribbler and he is a player any football lover would pay to watch.
"Ronaldo was the best in 2008, 2009 and now in 2010 Messi is fantastic."
Portugal are in the Group of Death. Simao, 30 admits: "When we got Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea we were a little bit worried.
"The most important is to get to the second round. But we know it is going to be difficult.
"But we have a group of young players, very ambitious players, players that play in great teams.
"We are very close, we always try to do our best and with coach Carlos Queiroz we will go far."
Portugal KO'd England on penalties at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2004. [end story]

A little background here.  Simao Sabrosa was a budding star in Portugal until the teenage Cristiano came on the scene and stole his thunder.  Still a prolific scoring threat, the elder statesman Sabrosa has had a chip on his shoulder ever since.  When Cristiano was given the captain's armband by first Scolari, then Carlos Queiroz, Simao became very defensive and his wife even made comments that her husband was a much better player than Cristiano.....whatever.  Anyway, this latest comment is not surprising and shows a real crack in the Portuguese team...as they head into the biggest tournament in the world.  This might be an indication as to why Cristiano hasn't scored for Portugal in almost 18 months.  The comments were untimely and unfair.
Shutup, Simao...you're just a hater!

CR arrived in SA looking dour...maybe he had to sit next to Stinky Simao...

Socceraid 2010
Robbie Williams puts on a show every year at Old Trafford to raise money for UNICEF, for whom Williams is an ambassador.  The soccer match pits England vs. ROW (rest of the world).  It's so odd to see Giggsy as part of the ROW group, but then you have to remember that he's Welsh, not English.
The two sides were deadlocked at 2-2 after regulation, despite fantastic play from Zidane and Figo (ROW), and Jamie Redknapp and Giggs for the English.
After the penalty shootout, ROW prevailed...and in more ways than one.  The rest of the world will benefit greatly from this endeavour.

Zizou, Robbie Williams, Luis Figo (I'm very jealous of Robbie)

The teams line up in front of a packed OT crowd

Alan Shearer

Woody Harrelson wins it for ROW...yes THAT Woody Harrelson

Giggsy's been on vacay...nice tan!

Teddy Sheringham scores for England...

...and the former United player takes the fans for a trip down memory lane!

ROW celebrate their victory

Here is the video of the complete penalty shootout.
