Berba Calls Time on NT; Flaming Flamenco Footballer

Dimitar Berbatov has called time on his international football career.

The 29-year-old, Bulgaria’s captain and record goal scorer, made the announcement in Sofia on Thursday. He told media at the Vasil Levski national stadium that “it was a difficult decision” to retire, “but sometimes we have to take difficult decisions”.

Berbatov scored 48 goals in 75 appearances for the national team. [end story]

This revelation doesn't surprise me at all.  Bulgaria has never really challenged for anything and I'm sure Berba's fitness for his club is more important to him.

My day was made better yesterday by photos that appeared in kickette.com.  The gals at kickette are always on the ball (no pun intended) about footy fashion news and whatnot.  So this little pearl of a photo was putting the forumistas into a tizzy when our dear Ronny appeared with Raul to cheer on new-found friend Rafael Nadal at the Madrid Open.  To say that Ronny looked confused as to why they were hitting the little ball with a racquet instead of their feet is putting it mildly.  But his choice of clothing for the event is what really got the gals at kickette laughing.  One said, "he looks like he's about to start flamingo (flamenco) dancing!"
I would have to agree. *clap clap*
Raul looks normal and in the photo seems to be shying away from Ronny and choosing to be closer to the tennis-togged Nadal.  I can't say this for sure, but Nadal and Tutanbaul seem to be laughing at what Ronny is wearing.
Scroll down to the bottom for photos.

In other Ronny/Raul news:  The perma-tanned one dissed his own club in an interview for Punto Pelota.  When asked if he liked playing with Raul (rumored to retire this year), he said, "yes, but if he goes I would really like the number 7."  For those of you unfamiliar with RM history/lore, the number 9 is the "hallowed number" in Madrid.  That's why they gave it to Ronny upon his arrival last July.  But Ronny has never been associated with the number 9 and has made a mark as CR7,  a moniker which he also gave to a lucrative line of clothing stores in Portugal.  A player's boots are his signature and if Ronny's tell us anything it's that he never warmed to the CR9 branding forced on him by RM and their "fans."  His boots were monogrammed CR7 when he played for United, and still carry that monogramming when he plays for Portugal.  But his boots for RM say "CR."  The CR9 tag has also given the unfaithful madridistas (translation: all of them) the license to refer to Ronny as CR94...which they use to insult him after sub-par matches.  The 94 refers to the amount of euros spent to secure his services from the One True Club, Manchester United.
In the interview, Ronny went on to say about his newly-found "friends" in Madrid that he doesn't understand them at all.  "They ask for my autograph before the game and then insult me during the game."
I'm sure Ronny's been made aware that during United's last match of the season on Sunday, his REAL fans at Old Trafford were singing "Viva Ronaldo."  I can bet we'll never hear such praise from the Madridiots.....sad sad sad.

Ronny looks confused by the proceedings

The three Rs...Ronny, Raul, Rafa

Dear Ronny, please let me dress you.  I implore you!!!
