Piers Morgan, a particularly vitriolic blowhard from The Daily Mail, is a diehard Arsenal fan. One could say that his hobby is carving up anything remotely related to Manchester United. Piers' columns have received many a furrowed brow from me over the years, especially when he consistently referred to Cristiano as "pizza-faced." One could forgive him because his side have struggled in the last five years while United has reaped the rewards of hard work.
But...I have to give Piers props for being honest about his own team. When United annihilated the Gunners at the Emirates last April in the CL tie, Piers said, "...after the realization that we weren't going to win, and most of the crowd were exiting with their tails between their legs, I sat back and truly enjoyed watching Ronaldo and company play some amazing football."
So, with United once again annihilating the Gunners at the Emirates last week, this is what Piers had to say:
"We were, frankly, pathetically spineless. A horde of mice against a pack of lions. United looked hungrier, nastier and more determined.
Watching Nani ravage our left flank of Denilson and Gael Clichy was like watching a panther toy with two dumb antelopes."
Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. :)
