Zidane has organized a match in Lisbon, Portugal at the Estadio da Luz (January 25) to benefit the poor and afflicted in Haiti...which was 85% of the population before the earthquake and 95% of them now. What a horrible sight to see in a place that has been in freefall since the days of Papa Doc Duvalier, who manhandled the population while gilting his palace and setting up his son, Baby Doc Duvalier, to take over the "family business." Much like the Saddam Husseins, Pol Pots, and Robert Mugabes of the world, these social terrorists are responsible for the mess that the country is in now. Earthquake or not.
So it warms my heart to know that someone I admire, Zinedine Zidane, will be playing for the cause. Since his retirement he has traveled the world as an ambassador to bring the Beautiful Game to those who don't have a chance to watch footy on their computers like I do. Joining him in Portugal will be Kaka, who is replacing Ronaldo (Nazario de Lima) who has to play with Corinthians on the date. I'm curious as to why Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't signed on to play the game...after all it is in Lisbon! In any event, I'm proud of footy for stepping up for the cause.
